You may have elk sharing sidewalks during your in town strolls or you can watch the bison visiting the lodge or grazing in neighborhood yards.

In the depth of winter, hundreds of elk feed on the Beartooth Bench area just across the Yellowstone River from the Absaroka Lodge. Gardiner has the only road open through the Park for automobile travel to the Lamar Valley and Cooke City.
